Creative Guidelines:
Help build community by creatively transforming one of our 16 spaces into a solo show or installation. When drafting your proposal, we encourage you to consider how transforming your space to exhibit your art adds to a creative community and sense of place. And though we completely support your artistic expression, this will be a family-friendly event. We will not be able to accept submissions that are sexually explicit or that include depictions of violence.

Installation Guidelines:
Typically, the spaces will be 10 x 10 sq. ft. Depending on the category and artist requirements, the space will include a fixed wall and two temporary walls. For sculpture and other exhibits that don’t require wall space, display structures would be coordinated with the curators. Each artist will receive a stipend of $250 for display design materials. Materials might include paint, fabric, scrim, etc. Creativity and ingenuity are encouraged. Artists are responsible for the delivery of their physical works to and from the LOOK gallery, including all related expenses. Artists will be responsible for installation of their work, however, there will be assistance available. We will be there to help. If you are interested in exhibiting oversized work (exceeds than 39 × 39 × 79 inches and/or 22 pounds), please mention it in your submission email. We will not be able to hang artwork from the ceiling. Aerosols or anything flammable may not be used in the space.  The space is a former pharmacy, so the lighting is fluorescent. Most of the spaces do not have electrical outlets. For video and interactive art, please include equipment and space specifications in the submission.

Operations Guidelines:
The selected artists will gain access to the space during 14 days prior to the opening of the gallery. Artists will have 7days after the exhibit has closed to retrieve their works of art and equipment. Artists will not be allowed to remove art during the show for the integrity of the show. All sales and delivery of artwork will be handled directly between the artist to purchaser. Langston Boulevard Alliance will not take a commission on any work purchased through the gallery.  We will provide signage that will include artist information with QR codes that link to the artist’s website or social media. Each artist will be promoted on the LOOK website. The gallery will be advertised in paid media, on social media, and through partnerships.

Artists are expected to be present for three 2-hour slots during the three week festival, but are encouraged to be present at the event as much as possible to create a more engaging experience. We will be reaching out in the future about scheduling a Meet the Artist event.
